Wright v. Warner Books
Wright v. Warner Books (1991) was a case in which the widow of the author Richard Wright (1908-1960) claimed that his biographer, the poet and writer Margaret Walker (1915-1998), had infringed copyright by using content from some of Wright's unpublished letters and journals. The court took into account the recent ruling in Salinger v. Random House (1987), which had found that a copyright owner had the right to control first publication, but found in favor of Walker after weighing all factors.

Miss Snark, the literary agent: More on letters and copyright
Well, the original comment sent Miss Snark scurrying to the internet to see what those clever lads in Congress have been up to since she last thought about copyright on personal letters. Here's what turned up at PubLaw:Allegations involving copyright infringement frequently occur when the author of an unauthorized biography makes use of the subject's published or unpublished letters and papers or possibly from oral conversations the author may have had with the subject.

TryingToBe A Techie: Thing 6 Code of Best Practices in Fair Use (Media Literacy)
Wow - OK this lesson was really worthwhile! I wanted to discuss it with others, so am blogging the samples from the last article so I can have my friends tonight read it:) (OK - so I don't google doc yet). Because I am not in a classroom, I haven't dealt much with copyright, but since I just used Simpson in my last Blog, I was glad to take in this lesson.

Scrivener's Error: From the World of Books
First up, we have an author lamenting a nasty book review. I'm not entirely certain how earnest the review really is, but it seems to zoom between hurt feelings and self-deprecating humor at such speed that I don't think the author is, either.
