North Irish Horse
The North Irish Horse was a yeomanry unit of the British Territorial Army raised in the northern counties of Ireland in the aftermath of the Second Boer War. Raised and patronised by the nobility from their inception to the present day, they were the first non-regular unit to be deployed to France and the Low Counties with the British Expeditionary Force in 1914 and fought with distinction both as mounted troops and later as a Cyclist Regiment, achieving 18 battle honours. They were reduced to a single man in the inter war years and re-raised for World War II where they achieved their greatest distinctions in the North African and Italian campaigns. Reduced again after the Cold War the regiment's name still exists in B (North Irish Horse) Squadron, the Queen's Own Yeomanry and 69 (North Irish Horse) Signal Squadron (V) part of 32 Signal Regiment.
Under the plans of Future Reserves 2020, it has been decided that B (North Irish Horse) Squadron will come under command of the newly established Scottish and North Irish Yeomanry Regiment, 69 (North Irish Horse) Signal Squadron will become 40 Signal Squadron but the naming convention for them is yet to be decided. 40 (Ulster) Signal Squadron is a possible title.

Will's Wargames Blog: Gauntlet - Day 2 - Longstop hill
For the second days gaming the hills were re-configured into a version of Longstop hill and we played the November 42 attack in the morning and the successful April 43 attack in the afternoon. The November attack set two allied platoons attacking a single German platoon occupying the hill The rules were Bolt Action The British wing struggling against the stubborn German defenders The American move forward on the south And breaking through the defenses The the tide turned for the British as well The German front line crumbles However it's a Pyrrhic victory as the Allies done have enough strength left to resist the German counter attack No pictures for the afternoon game except this one, where the North Irish Horse arrived with their Churchills to support the assault.

North Horse: Irish Hobby Horses & The Vicious Cycle Continues
Happy Saint Patty's Day! The national horse of Ireland is, of course, the handsome, heavy-boned Irish Draft (or, in more local parlance, the Irish Draught Horse). But did you know that the breed was developed from the now-extinct Irish Hobby horse? And from the Hobby horse arose the expression, "to ride one's hobby horse," meaning to follow one's passion.
