An Appeal to Reason: A Cool Look at Global Warming
An Appeal to Reason: A Cool Look at Global Warming is a 2008 book by Nigel Lawson. In it, Lawson argues that global warming is happening, but that the science is far from settled. He opposes the scientific consensus as summarized by the IPCC. He also argues that warming will bring both benefits and negative consequences, and that the impact of these changes will be relatively moderate rather than apocalyptic. He criticizes politicians and scientists who predict catastrophe unless urgent action is taken, and he calls for gradual adaptation instead. The book has been criticized by some climatologists, including IPCC authors Jean Palutikof and Robert Watson.

An Appeal to Reason : A Cool Look at Global Warming | ReviewSien
An Appeal to Reason: A Cool Look at Global Warming (2008) by Nigel Lawson is a surprisingly good book about possible responses to anthropogenic global warming (AGW). The book is short, crisp, well written and provides a good view of a certain type of skeptic position. He accepts with some doubt the scientific predictions of…

An Appeal To Reason, A Cool Look At Global Warming « Craig Speller – Four Times OSY400 World Champion
This is an important book, not least because it presents a view for reason which has been censored in many countries. The author begins by saying that his three previous books, in different genre, were published eagerly by British publishers, but that this latest book was flatly rejected by every British publisher even with the promotion of an outstanding literary agent.

Book note: An Appeal to Reason: A Cool Look at Global Warming | Suitable For Mixed Company
Denny Hartford recommends An Appeal to Reason: A Cool Look at Global Warming, by Nigel Lawson, and says it's available in paperback with an updated afterword. I haven't seen the book, but anything that injects reason into the 'global warming' needless hysteria fest is welcome, in my view.

Research Reveals Almost All Climate Science Denial Books Linked To Conservative Think Tanks | DeSmogBlog
IF you haven't seen them on the television or come across their interviews on the radio or in newspapers and magazines, then you've almost certainly seen their work as your eyes scan the climate change section in your local book store or library. They are the authors of books claiming to reveal the "real truth" about global warming and climate change - that it's either all a hoax, that it's overblown bad science from green ideologues or an elaborate illusion and wrongheaded nonsense. You might have been intrigued by titles like "An Appeal to Reason: A Cool Look at Global Warming", "The Climate Caper" or the subtle sledgehammer that was "Global Warming and Other Bollocks". But new research into the origins and authors of more than 100 of these climate science denial books finds almost all of them - about four out of five - are largely the products of conservative-leaning think tanks. The research finds the books avoid traditional academic peer-review and are often written by non-experts. Dr Riley Dunlap, of Oklahoma State University, and Peter Jacques, of the University of Central Florida, have published their research - Climate Change Denial Books and Conservative Think Tanks: Exploring the Connection - in the journal American Behavioural Scientist.
